Where is Justine Bishop?
And why did she abandon her children?

Thomas Kent is determined to find out. Asked to pick up a "package" at the airport by an old friend he barely remembers, Thomas is shocked when he finds two desperate children looking to him for help. As he’s reluctantly drawn into the murderous plot of a ruthless cult, Thomas is forced to come face-to-face with his own torturous guilt over the tragic loss of his family and faith. Why does the cult so desperately want the kids? Their mother, Justine Bishop, holds the key. He just has to find her . . . or die trying.

Previously published under the title Blind Sight.

Unseen edition by James Pence Religion Spirituality eBooks

Peter & Justine were members of a group for several years that they realized later was a cult. Eventually, they both became Christians & couldn't continue working with a group who caused the "accidental" deaths of those who tried to leave or go against the "father". When Justine confronted the leaders, her life was then on the line. She fled, hiding out, while Peter stayed with their 7 year old twins Michelle & Micah to protect them. Three years later, Peter sent an email with evidence & called Thomas, who he'd known in college. Peter told him to keep his twins safe & to meet them at the airport. Thomas had been going through a horrible time since his wife & two kids had been killed in a car accident when he was driving. How could he take this responsibility on now, when all he wanted to do was die? What happened to Peter at the airport? Who changed Thomas' mind about helping Peter? Can he find Justine for the children? How many people will die before the cult is exposed? This is a thrilling book, showing how anyone without strong beliefs can easily be drawn down the wrong path. As believers, we need to remember that God isn't with us just in the good times. He's with us in both good & bad times in life. I gave this book 4 stars only because there were so many characters to keep up with in the beginning.

Unseen edition by James Pence Religion Spirituality eBooks Reviews

Fast paced and gripping, I read it in every spare moment. When I was away from it I kept thinking, "hurry, I want to get back to my book!" I love clean fiction without gratuitous profanity, sex, and violence." This was filled with substance and depth, instead of empty trash. As a Christian, the theme of faith and trust resonated well and showed how God's grace comforts and carries us through the inevitable trials that all people go thru in their lives. Bravo! I will read more of James Pence.
What if there was a cult that required its followers to blindly obey every command issued and the person in charge wasn't content with controlling only his little group but wanted to expand his power over the whole country? And a man is suddenly the unwilling guardian of twin children from that cult. Can he help them escape, keep them alive, and finally bring down that cult? This book kept me on edge throughout the book and made it seem realistic that it could happen and how it would happen. The characters were well developed and believable.
What a great read! As a Christian I have started and then stopped reading many books when they've become sexually explicit or used foul language. I've thoroughly enjoyed the writing of Richard Mabry and Harry Kraus, who are not just fellow believers but fellow doctors, and I can now add James Pence to my list of preferred authors. "Unseen" was a well-written and engaging novel which held my attention to the last word and actually had me hoping for more. It delves into the dark world of cults and the incredible lengths misguided individuals will go to in order to propagate their lies; lies which stand in stark contrast to the One who identified Himself as "The way, the TRUTH, and the life."
Hold on to your seat as you take off on this journey with a compelling, riveting read. This is my first time reading this author but it won't be my last. A special treat was the part Louisiana setting, since I'm a Louisiana girl, and I loved the accurate visual descriptions of the bayou that took me home. You won't be able to put this one down, wanting to see what happens next as a father gives his life to save his children and send them off to a man he's had no contact with in years, hoping he can save his children. The characters are as well developed as the plot. Thomas and Justine end up main characters, but I loved the little blind boy who saw more than his sighted sister. I loved the dog's name, Gumbo and used to have a German shepherd. Pets in a book are extra value to me since I love animals. If you haven't read this man yet, check him out. You'll be glad you did. At first I wasn't much interested in the book when I saw it was about a cult, but once I got into it and realized how it was going, I'm glad I read it. I think this book is a Must Read for anyone you know who is even thinking of joining a cult. if you can get them to read it. It's bound to change minds. I found the novel to be enlightening since I know next to nothing about cults, and that's what made me realize how valuable this book could prove. It's also a great escape and enjoyable read with mystery, intrigue, and great visual description that makes it come alive, a five-star novel all the way!
Thomas is tasked with picking up a package from the airport. What he doesn’t realize is the package is two children and they’re being hunted by some dangerous people. Their father was killed by a cult. Thomas needs to find the children’s mother and get information to her about the cult. It was a page turner.
This was a very suspenseful fast moving story. I liked the book because it was a mystery but wasn't filled with sex and curse words like so many of the mysteries are that one can pick up. The best reason I found this author so enjoyable was due to real life situations and the godly ways to deal with them.
Unseen is a well written page turner that I gave five stars because the mystery got my heart beating and the events and circumstances got me thinking about things I may not have otherwise. I'm a fan of author James Pence, and I was delighted by this entertaining read!
